My name is Karyn Ellis. I am a singer-songwriter from Toronto, Canada. I have been making music for several years now under my own label called "Mathilde's Home Productions".
Welcome to my pitch!
I am an independent artist. I don't have a financial backer. There is no music label footing the bills. Any capital I need I either raise through arts grants or through private donations from friends, family and fans and through generous folks like you who support the arts just 'cuz it's good to do.
I recently put out a new record called "Even Though The Sky Was Falling". It's a fabulous album, if I may say so myself! :) I encourage you to listen to it and decide if you agree! Check my website or visit my page on CBC Radio 3:

By effectively becoming a patron of my art, you will cover the administrative and capital costs of doing business, freeing me up to do what I do best, which is be an artist & make music.
There are two areas where your contributions will go to assist me. I will use the funds to:
(1) Pay off expenses related to the making of the album (studio time, musicians, producer, arranger... etc). The producer has generously postponed payment on the album, and I am also carrying additional debt on my line of credit. I would very much like to clear these so that I can go forth to the next step, which is...
(2) Promote my music... The biggest expenses are hiring a publicist and getting new press materials made, including photographs and a DVD featuring videos of my live shows. There are also incidental costs, postage, copying etc etc.

For example, one exciting project which will receive your funds is the creation of a music video for the song Bitter Grasses! I am working with a Toronto director & production company this summer, and it's going to be super snazzy & amazing! I received a FACTOR grant to make this video, and your contribution helps to cover the $2000 shortfall.
