*UPDATED: January 10th!*
On December 28th/29th I tracked the basis for my album 'Ashes and Tangerines' live off the floor at 6 Nassau in Kensington Market, Toronto, Canada.
I was accompanied by Paul Kolinski (drums), Nicolas Buligan (horns), and Zoe Guigueno (upright bass). We had rehearsed the songs pretty intensively, in my living room, for the weeks leading up to the recording. Out of a pool of twenty-something songs, we recorded eleven.
I really hope to be able to go into the studio again in February and record 3 or 4 more songs, and to mix the album. That would take (minimum) 2 or 3 more days in the studio. Each studio day is $400, plus the added costs of paying musicians. Thank you so much for your contributions to this album. They have helped to carry the project to the stage it is at now... but I need your help to finish this record!
I'm an independent artist, as you know... and that means I do pretty much everything (booking, promotion, etc) on my own.
Without your support I couldn't have recorded and released my album 'Secret Beasts'. In 2009, when I was readying to record that album, I asked for audience support. Enough people pre-ordered the album to really help me out with the recording and mixing process.
Here are the songs we have recorded for Ashes and Tangerines. I hope to add 2 or 3 more. (Some will be part of the digital-exclusive release.)
Harvest
Decomposition
Rivers on the Moon
Marrow Bone
Hope Is Heavy
Tangerines
Heaven and Hell
X-Ray
Sea Lions
King Temperance
Raven
