Keeping the earthship dream alive.

Keeping the earthship dream alive. Hi .... Errol here ... on the evening of June 18th 2010.
This is a new kapipal for the same cause ... keeping the earthship dream alive.
I have been encouraged to start this again by people who have been reading what has been happening. We have only week ... our deadline is June 25th at 4 pm.
The amount we are collecting has been changed as per the latest letter to us from the bank.
The rest of the updated story is below. For anyone who reaches this link for the first time ... the whole story is available at the website link provided.

Update

I am writing this quickly ... because I want to share what our current situation is.

During the month of May and into early June this link was shared in the hopes of coming up with $300,000 to pay off our mortgage obligations. The bank had given us until June 10th to repay the entire mortgage.

We created the link to reach out to as many other people as possible who believe in the idea of green living. We did think it was possible, because we believe all things are possible, that through sharing the link over the internet that way more than 60,000 people would see it. We were asking people to share a $5.00 donation with us because we felt that way more people could actually participate. With over 400, 000 facebook users alone worldwide, plus all the other social networks, emails and with many people sharing that link we did think we could make it.

As it turned out through the link we were able to collect $2004.50 and it closed for donations on June 10th. We also received some donations through the mail. The total was close to $2500.00 and we are extremely grateful to everyone who donated and extremely grateful to all those who shared the link.

As of this moment we are still in the earthship. I was able to both send a letter requesting a 100 day extension, and to speak to someone from the executive office of the CIBC directly. In our conversation I was told the request was being denied because if they (CIBC) were to stop the legal process now in place, the CHMC would deny them the insurance claim. Since our mortgage is insured and we have defaulted, the CIBC can re-possess the property, collect through the CHMC and then sell the property. Win, win for them. I did then ask what it would take to make things right, I asked if there was any other thing besides paying the entire amount of the mortgage.

I asked if paying the arrears was an option. I was told that I could pay the arrears, the legal fees and the land taxes. That would allow us to stay here and we could resume paying a monthly mortgage. They said they would put it in writing. They did and with that gave us until Friday June 25th, 2010 at 4 pm to come up with $46,196.71. If we do not, the letter states that they we will proceed with the legal action.

On behalf of my family I thank everyone for their prayers, for the love we have been shown.
Have a workable plan or idea ? ... Please feel free to send it to lisa.earthship@gmail.com.

We will be posting a few newspaper articles over the next few days ... so check back or look in your email for updates ... Peace ... Errol
